UreaPro Information For Patients

What is Hyponatremia?

Hyponatremia or low sodium is a common medical condition that easily can be diagnosed by a simple blood test. The most common cause of hyponatremia is due to the inability of the body to excrete excess water. Excess water accumulates in the blood, dilutes the sodium level, and leads to low sodium levels. The signs and symptoms of hyponatremia may include:

  • Brain fog
  • Drowsiness
  • Headache
  • Falls
  • Seizures
  • Slow reaction time
  • Osteoporosis leading to weak bones and risk of fracture
  • And in some cases, even Death

How Can UreaPro Help?

UreaPro is a medical food, used for the treatment of Hyponatremia. UreaPro draws excess water out of the body via the kidneys without removing important electrolytes especially sodium. The removal of excess water without the removal of sodium results in increased sodium levels.

UreaPro can often raise sodium level without the need for salt tablets and/or extreme fluid restriction, which can be more comfortable by allowing less fluid restriction and not raise blood pressure by adding excess sodium.

UreaPro is an unflavored urea in a multidose, resealable package. We pride ourselves to provide great quality at an affordable cost. This option offers a lower cost alternative compared to flavored ure-Na and allows people to add their own flavoring

UreaPro can be purchased directly, but should be taken under the supervision of a medical provider

Hospital Discharge

You may have been given ure-Na in the hospital which is a lemon-lime flavored urea.  ure-Na is used in Americas top hospitals as a treatment option for hyponatremia.

UreaPro has the same high quality urea that ure-Na has and is stabilized like ure-Na to reduce clumping, but unlike ure-Na, UreaPro needs to be flavored.

UreaPro can be purchased directly by consumers, but should be taken under the supervision of a medical provider

 Flavoring and mixing UreaPro

Stabilized UreaPro was designed to reduce clumping versus raw urea for accurate dosing and easy mixing.  A scoop of UreaPro has 15 grams of USP grade, stabilized, synthetically derived urea.

The synthetically made urea in UreaPro is naturally bitter and most people taking it prefer to mix it with a strong juice or a powdered drink mix such as gatorade, or soda.

A 15 gram dose, which is a scoop of UreaPro should be mixed in 3-4 ounces of the preferred flavoring liquid.  UreaPro is designed to mix in only 3-4 ounces so it won't effect any fluid restrictions.

 Dosing UreaPro

The health care provider who is recommending that you take UreaPro will advise you on dosing.  Dosing can range from 1-4 scoops per day.
